Deck & Fence Staining and Sealing
Deck, fence and wood staining and sealing that protects against sun and moisture.
Stain does two jobs: it gives wood color, and it protects it from UV and water. A good stain job on clean, dry, properly prepped wood can look great for years. A rushed one can peel in a single season.
What we stain and seal
- Wood decks, stairs and railings
- Privacy and picket fences
- Pergolas, gazebos and play sets
- Log and wood siding accents
- Concrete and paver sealing
Choosing a stain
- Transparent: shows the most grain, least UV protection, needs recoating sooner.
- Semi-transparent: the most common choice. A good balance of grain and protection.
- Solid: looks like paint and hides weathered wood, but takes more work to change later.
We'll recommend what fits your wood and how much upkeep you want. Staining usually follows a deck and fence restoration.
Common questions
How long does a stain last?
It depends on the product, the sun exposure and foot traffic. Horizontal deck boards wear faster than fences. We'll give you a realistic estimate for your project.
Can you stain over my old stain?
Sometimes. If the old coating is peeling, it has to come off first so the new stain can bond.
What weather do you need?
Dry wood and a dry forecast. We'll reschedule rather than stain into rain.
